Celebrate with friends this holiday season with this collection of four bottles of wine generously donated by NJHC Trustee Stephen Galpin. This thoughtfully selected collection featuring bottles from California, Italy, France and New Zealand can be gifted together or separated for the wine lovers in your life. Bottle Descriptions: Jean Edwards Oak Knoll Merlot 2018 - The Merlot is sourced from a premium vineyard and prior to this vintage was used as a blending variety. John and Karen found they loved this Merlot so much they decided to make a varietal bottling. Good call. Aging takes place in 75% new French oak and 5% Cabernet Franc is blended into the Merlot. Dark and red fruit, dried herbs and lovely, grippy tannins make this Merlot a wine with depth of flavor and character. Region: Napa, California Grape: Merlot Chiappini Bolgheri Rosso "Feliciano" 2021 - A classic Super Tuscan blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese is farmed with organic practices and utilizes judicious use of barrels that round the wine and give it a touch more structure. This wine is just full of life...braggadocious blackberry notes with hints of cassis, tobacco, bay leaf and lit cigar. A whiff of roasted coffee in the lengthy finish add allure and this is a gem to drink now through 2033. Region: Tuscany, Italy Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese Felton Rd Pinot Noir Calvert 2020 - Perfumed floral notes abound amongst a background of dark fruits, Indian spice and a savory earthiness. The vines, now 20 years old, are deeply settled in the silt soils of this remarkable site - providing a distinctive and consistent vineyard expression. Florality, subtlety, and harmony, with finely chiseled tannins, are the hallmarks of Calvert. This 2020 is as fine as it gets. Region: Central Otago, New Zealand Grape: Pinot Noir Chateau Fontfleurie St Emilion Grand Cru 2019 - This small, by Bordeaux standards, 20 hectare plot in the heart of St Emilion is littered with sandy, rock strewn soils. There is so much to love about this wine and all that goes into it: 45+ year old vines, all hand harvested and low yields only tell part of the story. The true beauty is the artistry with which the wine is made...the wise decisions and attention to detail. Loads of blackberry, cassis, plum and Chinese five spice notes unfurl on the palate with excellent weight and tremendous length. This 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc wine is a joy to drink now through 2033. Region: Bordeaux, France Grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Franc Bidding and the Buy-It-Now option are both available now. Winning bidder can arrange pick-up in Boonton or Phillipsburg after December 4th.
